Andy Beckerman is a Los Angeles-based writer and producer. Most recently, he sold a show to FX and has so far survived fires, plagues and strikes. Prior to that, he sold and wrote OTHR, his first feature, for Matt Ratner and Tilting Windmill Productions. OTHR asks the question, “What if Albert Brooks had been in charge of Marvel Phase 4?” In the years before that, he sold a scripted comedy to Comedy Central, and co-created and executive produced an unscripted comedic show about race called INSIDE CAUCASIA for truTV. He has also written for shows like THE PETE HOLMES SHOW (TBS) and CEDRIC'S BARBER BATTLE (The CW). If you need a joke about getting your hair cut in different cities in the United States, Andy is your man.
In addition to his writing, Andy produces and hosts the popular interview podcast BEGINNINGS about the childhoods of writers and performers, as well as the hit show COUPLES THERAPY with his wife, stand-up Naomi Ekperigin, which has been written up in everything from The New York Times to Entertainment Weekly and is one of the shows featured in the new book THE PODCAST PANTHEON: 101 PODCASTS THAT CHANGED HOW WE LISTEN.
Many years before all this, Andy was a philosophy professor at Temple University, where he mostly studied 20th Century European philosophy and taught classes like Philosophy of Science, Art and Society, and Feminist Philosophy. Feel free to ask him about either Sartre or deep X-Men continuity; he is fluent in both!
